Circa 1917, this older soldier (probably Landwehr Regiment?) is wearing a M1916 Stahlhelm, Model 1910 Vereinfachte (Simplified) Feldrock and M1909 ammunition pouches getting supported by his bread-bag strap. He is armed with two 1917 pattern grenades and a Gew 98.


By 1916 German stick grenade production alone was eight million per month! At least 20 various stick grenade styles and variations had been fielded by Germany from 1914 to 1917.


The German Model 1916 Stahlhelm was developed primarily by two males, Frederich Schwerd and Dr. August Bier. By August 1915 the German High Command had approved of the concept of a new helmet. The designs for the Model 1916 were drawn up in September 1915. By December of that year, the M1916 was becoming employed by a Sturm (Assault) battalion for trial purposes, and it showed excellent prospective if some of the design and style flaws were adjusted.


The mass production of the ‘Stahlhelm’ started January 1916 and it was extensively distributed to soldiers in the Imperial German Field Army on the western front. The Model 1916 helmet saw service on both fronts of the war and proved to be quiet profitable, except that the wearers hearing was impaired because of the size and shape of the helmet.

reported these 20 or more stolen copper ground wires in 2010. MTA police called me and wanted me to come back to spoon feed them, i was already miles away going to meet someone. I gave them full location info, i doubt they ever got out of the car. They could have called a MTA electrician or gave me a follow up call on monday.

Never received a follow up call and they had my number since the MTA police had called me after i reported it to the main number.

Group member Simon Webster has been designing a new linear ion trap to replace an old experiment. This version features a brass mounting structure instead of ceramic, which won’t work at all, but can survive various forms of abuse: dropping, prodding with metal tools, and being used as a jig for bending and assembling wires to be used as compensation electrodes.


Parts for the real trap are seen here. A view of the whole assembly is here.


The parts were made by Simon Moulder and the rest of the Motorcycle club at the Clarendon workshop using wire-erosion EDM China. The blades and endcaps are stainless steel, the insulators are Macor ceramic.

Fiber optics technology can be considered as one of the greatest revolutions in the communication field. The first application for the fiber optics technology was based on the theory presented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1800s. The theory stated that the light can carry the voice recording through the wiring"s use.


In 1970s, the minute glass tubing was created by the Corning Glass Works. The people could use this glass tubing as the wave guide for transmitting the information by using the light media. This invention then was largely used not only in United States but also in the world. By the middle 1990s, the telecommunications industry then replaced the conventional copper wire with the fiber optic cable.


You probably are including to the people who also use this wire in your home. To apply this wire, you sometimes need to adjust the wire and need to cut the wire. You will find cutting the fiber optic wire is similar in cutting the conventional cable with little difference. Since the difficulty level is moderate, you can do it by yourself in your home. You will need some things like the metal scissors, sharp knife, wire strippers, gloves, and the wire cutters.


The first thing you should do is removing the outer wire jacket by using the sharp blade or the wire strippers. You should cut through the jacket material then you pull off the jacket. You will find the Kevlar fibers protruding and the coated wires with the glass fiber tubing when you remove the jacket.


After that, you should twist Kevlar fibers to the strand like the rope with your finger. You need to snip the fibers with the metal scissors. The next thing you need to do is scoring the glass tubing with the sharp knife. This will help you to make the scratch on the glass tubing to mark the place where you will cut. Use your fingertips to hold the cable so you can score the tubing. After that, you bend the glass tubing which is exposed and break it off cleanly. You can snip the remaining wire with the wire cutters.
