CNC machined aluminium
Paused at 20%
"It was an inspried move to machine laptops from billets of aluminium as opposed to multi-portion plastic mouldings.
The approach has been paused following the second reduce, with the signature rounded corners and the adverse space for the hinge fixing. The rawness of the aluminium has an elemental tactility and unrefined beauty."
– Edward & Jay
Component of ‘In The Making’ exhibition – much more than twenty objects throughout the manufacturing stage of their construction…curated by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, the design duo who are maybe greatest known for designing the 2012 London Olympic torch.
The pair commented on the exhibition “‘We have usually been fascinated by the creating approach as it is an integral portion of our function. We have curated an exhibition that will offer a platform to capture and reveal a frozen moment in the manufacturing process and unveils an daily object in its unfinished state. Often the object is as beautiful, if not more so, than the finished solution!”
